The Day You Take Accountability for Yourself

From being a victim to taking responsibility for myself. How do I create a better life for myself? How do any of us create a better life?

I didn’t know how. Being trapped by the accumulation of my decisions. I wanted out. I wanted freedom from my own Hell. But I didn’t know to change.

I started a new job. This new position would make my life better. It didn’t. I was the problem. A sobering reality.

Overwhelmed by debt, my job and lack of direction. I had become a victim. I blamed my boss for not promoting me. Instead of becoming more valuable. To change my life, I had to change.

Changing yourself is difficult. But so rewarding.

Instead of blaming others. I started to shift the blame on myself. I can’t control others. I can only control myself.

“No Bullshit What Would It Take!?”

Tom Bilyeu

I’ve adopted this question as a core principle in my life.

When you aren’t where you want to be. Ask yourself that question. Sit with it for a while. This will be difficult. Be prepared.

Identify an area you want to change. Journal about the topic. Use the question as a framework. Lean into the discomfort. Don’t blame others. Write about the problem. Of course. But don’t stay there long. This question is about shifting your mindset to find a solution.

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them”

Albert Einstein

The moment you can shift to find solutions for your pain points. That is the day you take accountability for yourself. That’s the day you realize. Human struggle is not a source of pain but a source of solutions. Friction always exists between opposites.
