Geronimo!

My name is Ignacio, I often find myself in ways I least expect.  This is a new journey for me and my life. I’ve dabbled in writing here and there mostly on Twitter and in my journal over the last few years. I wanted to start a blog, but never made it happen.

As I write my first post, I am a 30 years old with a portfolio of debt ranging from student loans to a mortgage. I have $45,000 in student loans, $3,500 approximately across a number of credit cards, a car note and a mortgage payment.  I recently started looking seriously at my financial situation in late June 2017, when my 2002 VW Jetta started to experience some pretty hefty issues.

At first I was hesitant to purchase this “newer car” I just hit my one year anniversary of home ownership and I didn’t want to take on another recurring payment.  Long story short… I pulled the trigger because the pros outweighed the cons.

I recently finished reading

The Spender’s Guide to Debt-Free Living by Anna Newell Jones.  I read the book nearly all in one sitting and her message really connected with me! I have completed my reverse budget, wants and needs list, identified my grey areas and created a debt-hit list!

Tomorrow is my first day on my spending fast, which is both terrifying and exhilarating! By committing myself to my spending fast, I am committing to paying off my student loan and credit card debt, but moreover creating a more authentic life.  This blog is my step in taking ownership of my finances and personal development.  I feel that keeping track of my journey through this blog can encourage me to stand firm in my commitment to myself and maybe help others along the way.

Other Interests:

I will be sharing blogs posts on a number of different topics; some of my current interests are personal finance, time management, continuing education, kombucha brewing, fermented foods, and personal development.

This is my first Baby Step Toward Greatness!!
